Creating Sales Orders Without Inventory in InfoTrader (Create a +Pre-Sale)

Guide to Using +Create Pre-Sale for Brokered Deals— and How to Assign Inventory to a Pre-Sale Later

Written by InfoTrader

✈️ Create Deals Faster with the +Create Pre-Sale Feature in InfoTrader

The +Create Pre-Sale button in your Sales Cart is designed for speed and flexibility—perfect for brokers and sales reps who need to lock in deals before inventory or purchase orders are ready.

This +Create Pre Sale Feature allows you to generate a Sales Order (SO) without waiting for backend logistics to catch up.

📌 When to Use +Create Pre-Sale

Use this feature when:

✅ You’re brokering a deal without inventory in stock
✅ You want to initiate a Sales Order before a PO is available

(Please note you can allocate inventory to the +Pre Sale later on if the game plan changes- scroll down for more info)

🛠️ How It Works

1. Create the Pre-Sale Sales Order

  • Navigate to your Sales Cart (top-right corner)

  • Click Reserve List and then +Create Pre-Sale

  • Fill out the Sales Order form

ℹ️ Notes:

  • The Serial Number will default to TBD once the Sales Order is created

  • A blue lightning bolt icon marks the order as brokered

2. Create & Link the Purchase Order

Once your SO is created:

  • Create a new Purchase Order

  • Set Purchase for: Sale

  • Choose Allocate to Existing Sales Order

  • Link the PO to your Pre-Sale SO

3. (Optional) Send to Repair

If the part needs repair before shipping:

  • Select both Purchase for: Sale and Purchase for: Repair

  • Allocate to Existing Sales Order

4. Set Up Shipping info on the PO

In the PO’s Ship To section:
📦USA store (for example) = item will be physically received before shipping to customer
🚚 Drop-Ship Options = choose:

  • Company (if already saved in company data within InfoTrader), or

  • Other (for third-party locations)

Once received—physically or virtually—the item will appear in your Outbound Orders, ready to ship or invoice.

💡 Pro Tips & Extra Notes

  • You don’t need Pre-Sale to drop-ship—if you already have a PO, just fill out the Ship To section correctly. A Pre-Sales Order has noting to do with drop shipping feature. The drop ship feature is available on a regular SO and/or PO.

  • Use +Create Pre-Sale when you’re starting with the Sales Order and catching up with the backend later.

🔁 Want to Use Existing Inventory Later?

No problem. If you want to assign available inventory to a Pre-Sale after the fact:

  1. Go to Inventory and reserve the part for sale

  2. Open the Sales Order you created

  3. Click the three dots on the line item

  4. Select Assign Inventory

Make sure the inventory is reserved first so it populates when assigning.
